About This Spot

Stepping into King Buffet feels like discovering a quiet, unassuming corner of small-town Kentucky where time moves just a little slower and the familiar hum of comfort takes center stage. Nestled in a modest spot off Interstate Place, this family-style Chinese buffet welcomes visitors with the warm, steady rhythm of a neighborhood favorite rather than the buzz of a bustling city eatery. The atmosphere is straightforward and calm, inviting you to settle in without rush, from the gentle clatter of dishes to the soft murmur of conversation as guests find their place among the modest crowd.

Here, the pace is easy and the mood unpretentious, allowing the food to carry the experience rather than flashy décor or background fanfare. The buffet’s offerings may not be extensive or extravagant, but they embody a genuine simplicity that feels homemade, familiar, and thoughtfully prepared. The steady presence of classic flavors—from soothing brothy soups to straightforward stir-fried dishes—creates a sense of quiet satisfaction, like a comforting pause on a long day or a restful stop during a road trip.

The space carries a subtle sense of history too, hinted at by the faces behind the counter and the consistent, authentic care woven into their service. It’s a place where regulars feel at home and first-timers can find a touch of warmth in unexpected corners. Though it may not boast the flashiest lights or the widest array of options, King Buffet offers an experience rooted in patience, a modest selection that invites rediscovery, and a gentle, unhurried kindness rarely found in the rush of fast food.

For those passing through or locals seeking a modest, honest meal, King Buffet serves up more than just food—it offers a quietly steady slice of community life, a pause for ease, and a taste of something quietly familiar.

Stopped in for quick supper, was greeted and seated almost immediately, hot and sour soup was outstanding, the rest of the buffet was very good and service was excellent and fast.

This is a small, family-style buffet restaurant. There wasn’t much traffic—about 10 guests on a Friday night when I visited. The trays are small, and it can take time for new food to appear once they’re empty. There are no fancy items like sushi that bigger buffets offer, but I enjoyed the food and the environment. The price is reasonable too. The restaurant could use a more visible sign. Having visited thousands of buffets, I can tell the owner has been dedicated for over 20 years.

Driving to Lousville, KY and needed to quick food stop somewhere. Never heard of this town but saw the sign off highway so decide to give it a try. It is a very small family style buffet restaurant. Not much choices but with the pricing really had not much to complain. The hot and sour soup taste more like sweet and sour and a bit of the dishes are quite salty. I mainly was looking for vegetables, fresher meats and some sides so this meal definitely served the purpose. The server young lady was very friendly and attentive. Other than the staffs working there, we are the only Asians in the restaurant.

Little Chinese Buffet. Had all the staples of food you would expect plus steamed shrimp. It was good but could use an update and some background music.

I have been coming to this Chinese Restruant since I was about 7 or 8 years old and I have grown up seeing the older lady behind the counter their nearly everytime I went. I have so many good things to say about this place. The food is great. Can't get enough of it. The aesthetic is extremely pleasing. And the people who work their are extremely pationate and authentic to the place. Thank you for making Mundfordville a great experience to go out to.

This place is a definite hole in the wall place. I haven't had Chinese food this good since we left the West coast! I had the sweet and sour chicken, which had big chunks of chicken in it. And the General Tso chicken was quite delicious The egg roll and spring roll, I'd pass on. Those never hold up well on a buffet. The fried rice had no vegetables in it, which I've never seen before. They have mango jello! Yum!!! I love mango jello, it's a must try if you've never had it
